France - brest
Located in Brest, LE COMOEDIA is a gallery which exhibits sculptures and paintings of contemporary art. The Gallery offers a renewed program of exhibitions of artists from different universes including a large selection of urban artists, recognized or emerging.
Built by the architect Michel Ouchacoff, the gallery is located in a remarkable place which is undoubtedly the most emblematic building of the city in terms of architecture and heritage. The Comoedia has on its facade and also inside, several high reliefs of the sculptor Jean Rene Debarre. Initially an Italian-style theater representative of the 1940s style, it became an art cinema before being abandoned for 30 years and reborn as a contemporary art gallery in 2019. The restoration by the new owner who realized his childhood dream sublimates the Art Deco side and makes it a unique place in France.
Since its opening, Le Comoedia has been an art gallery expressing the diversity of contemporary art and its movements, particularly in painting and sculpture. Demanding and passionate in its choices, with three exhibitions per year, Le Comoedia has since become the leading gallery of Street Art and post Pop Art in Brittany. The Space also comes alive during exhibitions with thematic conferences and guided tours.
