Born in Nancy in 1978, Arnaud Florentin aka FLOW has made his hometown his creative base. And his pseudonym was not chosen at random, as the artist tirelessly explores movement through a unique artistic gesture. His painting therefore reveals itself as a constant quest for movement, characterized by an assertive gestural work.
Influenced by Action Painting and Expressionism, Flow projects painting onto the canvas without ever touching it in order to create original and spontaneous compositions. Using the Dripping technique, his characters come to life by pouring and projecting paint onto the canvas without physical contact, leaving room for the unexpected and artistic freedom. This particular approach reveals itself to be particularly sensitive to the gesture and the movement, skillfully navigating the borderline of the unpredictable. From the artist's point of view, “Painting must live, overflow, explode, surprise, touch the soul.”
Flow's techniques are manifold, and the subjects he tackles are even more varied. In addition to portraits of famous and unknown figures, his works depict scenes inspired by music, sports, urban life, popular icons, the human body and animals. Flow has exhibited in various galleries in France and abroad, notably in Quebec, Rouen and Lyon, and at the international District 13 art fair in Paris. His commitment to painting runs deep, and is expressed through a gestural approach that transcends the limits of the medium.
