France - paris
Born in 1961, Olivier Rizzo, aka SPEEDY GRAPHITO, is an urban artist considered one of the pioneers of French Street Art and a major artist of his generation. Precursor artist with a background in narrative figuration, he made his mark on the street in the early 80s, imbuing the collective memory and walls of Paris with his striking graphics.
As prolific as he is inventive, Speedy uses all forms of expression to create over time, a universal language imbued in its time. Through his graffiti, executed with stencils or brushes, he depicts joyful and colorful characters. He also explores painting, sculpture, video art, photography, digital art and performance at festivals, auctions and exhibitions.
His work is influenced by the iconography of pop culture, which is reflected in his frescoes through famous characters from comics, Disney, advertising brands and even video games. The artist never ceases to evolve, always in tune with its times, inventing pictorial languages that are iconoclastic and satirical codices of our society.
His works are exhibited worldwide, and he can claim many public commissions and interventions in museums and cultural centers. An exceptional artist, he is today a key figure on the urban scene, as much recognized by collectors and institutions as he is respected by his peers in the international urban movement.
