Biography

Born in 1981 in Sarcelles, ASTRO is a French graffiti artist and muralist who made his first graffiti in 2000 in the northern suburbs of Paris. Favoring lettering and wildstyle at the beginning, this self-taught and passionate artist brings his know-how and his technique towards an abstract art that mixes curves, calligraphy and dynamic forms.

Inspired by artists such as Hartung, Vasarely or Mucha, Astro has been able to create his own universe by exploiting the subtlety of shadows and lights, the strength of colors and the perspective of depths. At ease on large formats, through the walls on which he inscribes his art in the heart of the city, this muralist is also fond of working in the studio. Thanks to his spontaneous and impulsive drawing which characterizes him, the artist Astro is used to deceive the eye of the spectator by deforming the flatness of the facades and the canvases, thus creating impressive contemporary optical illusions.

A work that he deploys on the walls as well as on the canvases, and whose breath and originality make Astro an essential artist of the Street Art scene, as a proof his presence in many international festivals. He is also part of the CBS collective, from Los Angeles.
